Sad update on our little duckling. We continued all the supplements, and at times she seemed to improve. However, when we tried to introduce her to water, twice she got hypothermia, and nearly died. While her neck function improved, she always shook her head vigorously when eating, making me think there may have been something neurological. After her last bout of hypothermia, we isolated her from her brothers and sisters. She was a quarter their size and never fully feathered in three months. I think she may have developed duck pneumonia after the last water experience. Her breathing became heavy, and she went lame in one leg. One afternoon, I went to check on her, and she passed. It was sad, but she didn’t have a good life quality .
