Starlight Green Egger egg color.

Both of my SGE's from Hoovers look exactly like this one and they are laying pinkish brown eggs too.

All 8 of my hens are laying now. I have less than 50% green eggs. 5 are laying various shades of brown and three are laying green. I did try contacting the hatchery. They have not responded.
I really don’t mind all the colors just think they shouldn’t say it’s 95% chance for green when it’s clearly not.

My SGE also lay brown eggs except for one. I bought 4 from TSC and only one is a starlight green egger. One is a mixed rooster who was supposed to be a hen. The other two look just like my cinnoman queens who lay brown eggs and I suspect thats what the are. The photo is my starlight green egger.

I ordered 10 SGEs in March directly from Hoovers Hatchery. Only 8 made it to now. They are about 20 weeks old and five have been laying since July 7th.
I was under the assumption it was only a 5% chance to lay brown eggs. Well only 1 of the five is laying green lol. I even have a almost cream colored egg.
1 egg is not pictured it’s a peachy brown.
Even if the remaining 3 chickens that have not laid yet have green eggs that’s 50%.
Has this happened to anyone else with this breed?
I do enjoy the rainbow colors but would like a few more green eggs to go with my ham

Wow one of your eggs almost looks purple! Love the colors but I agree I would be unhappy with those odds. I have two SGE and one Bluebell egger all from Hoover not laying yet so I guess I should prepare for brown eggs will be bummed if my bluebell egger doesn’t lay blue though. Got her specifically for blue eggs.

All 8 of mine are laying now. 2 have really green eggs, another is green but has a heavy bloom sometimes that makes it look blue, 3 are laying a tan brown, 1 laying dark brown but has a heavy bloom that can make it look purple or sometimes pink. And the last is laying a egg that is a deep mustard color. Not quite green or brown lol.

That’s amazing! One of mine started laying at 15 weeks this week small Brown eggs with heavy bloom. Praying I get green out of the other one because I already have 4 brown layers! Enjoy your beautiful eggs!

Pictures of chickens + egg color

They look exactly like my 3 SGEs. We have at LEAST two layers (and I am thinking the third has started, too) that lay green eggs. One of the eggs is lighter and is slightly more on the blue side than green. Two of my girls are the darker red with dark brown/black and one is the lighter blonde with red. They are the chicks in my profile pic (now all grown and minus the lightest blonde one who turned out to be a roo).
