We are adding to our flock with some summer chicks and TSC has Starlight Green Eggers. The research I found said they would rather forage than be confined during the day. We have a 10 x 10 coup and an 8 x 16 run with fewer than 12 chickens. Do you think this is enough space for a Starlight Green Egger? We let them roam free for about two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening before roosting. If they will be unhappy about being confined to a good-sized run, I might skip it. TIA!

I think that'd be alright, that sounds like plenty of space for the amount of birds you have, just make sure they have stuff to do in their run (dust baths, places to perch, places to scratch and the occasional hanging cabbage) I think they'd be perfectly happy in a run!

What research, can you link sources?
IME, most breed behavior generalities are not real accurate.
Much depends on individual birds and the environment they inhabit.

How many fewer than 12...and how many more do you want to add?
Is your run weather proof in winter?
I learned my first winter that chicken cabin fever is real and it can be ugly, give them lots of space.
Remember that integration will go smoother with more space.

It was the description from multiple hatcheries. Our run is covered and winterezied. This will be our third winter. I am wondering mainly about the temperament of this chicken.
