I have been feeding my chicks (now 3 weeks old) Purina Start & Grow. I was just reading on the bag today to find out how much longer they should be on it, when I noticed it said Start & Grow is for small and medium poultry breeds. Large poultry should be getting Flock Starter. We have a mixture of different large breeds, no small or medium breeds, so I'm wondering now if I should be getting Flock Starter instead. Is it necessary?

Honestly, I think either is fine, but I do like that FlockRaiser has 20% protein, at least in my area it does. My original standard breed flock was raised on Start & Grow with the addition of hardboiled eggs every day for animal protein and they thrived.

I'll have to look and see if the feed store carries the Flock Starter. Not too many people around here have chickens, so feed choices are slim. In case I can't find the Flock Starter? How many boiled eggs did you give your chickens per day? How many chickens did you have? I have given them a yolk or two but only about once a week. Do you give just the yolk or the whites too?
Thanks!!!!
