I started building my first run today. I am building it in an L-shape around a shed in my backyard that I never use. The shed is 72 square feet and the run is 160 square feet. I am keeping 17 chickens, so that means that each one will have roughly 9.5 feet of space in the run and roughly 4.25 feet of space in the coop. I also plan to put a 4 foot wire fence around an acre on my property to free range in, but I am going to wait until June when I have more time before I set that up. Right now my chicks are about 10 days old, so they still have some time before they head outside, but here are some pictures of my progress so far:
