Started building - look what we have so far ... UPDATE !!! Moving day

That's going to be a darling coop. Finally found someone who builds like my brother!

Not complaining, except for when I have to pay the lumber bill

Ok, here we go with another update. It took forever to get to the point we are now because DH had to travel for work A LOT and on weekends we had rainy weather. But finally we are at least to the point where the girls can move in. We are going on vacation and it makes it so much easier for my in laws to look after them and they are getting way to big for their brooder (they are 6 weeks old now)

The siding is not finished and we have to install the outside door today, we just put in a temporary one for the night. We have vents on all three gables, two windows and during the day we can leave the door open since inside it is divided into coop and storage area. If that is not enough we can always build more ventilation, we will see how the summer goes.

That's a view from inside the coop to the storage area where the outside door is. We left the divider open with chicken wire to give more air flow (and I guess dust flow;) )
The kick board under the door is removable so when it is cleaning time I can just sweep the shavings outside without stepping over it.

The nesting boxes and a little perch in front of the window so they can enjoy the view

Another picture of the nesting boxes, we will be able to collect eggs from the storage area and don't have to go in the coop. The back part is still not done and we just covered the front part with a OSB so they can't get inside until we finish the back wall and they are closer to laying age.

The roost and poop boards. DH accidently mounted the 2x4 the wrong way, with the skinny side up. We just put a 1x4 with the wide side on top of one roost and left the other one like it is. Let the girls have their choice what they prefer.

Moved the girls in last night and first they seemed a little bit confused but this morning when I checked at them they looked very happy. They actually used their roost and I can report that the poop boards work really good

Once we are back from our vacation we will finish the rest.

That is one amazing coop. If you need extra income you could kick the chickens out and rent it as a cottage.

Seriously, I think that is the nicest coop I've ever seen, and your hubby obviously knows how to build things, and build them right! Cannot wait to see it with all of the siding up!

I think this is my favorite coop on BYC. I wish I had those construction skills, the roof line and materials are fantastic!
