My banty cochin hen went broody this summer on some of our Silver Spangled Hamburg hen's eggs. Since the hens were exposed to our banty Partridge Cochin rooster, we decided to wait and see. Well, out of four eggs, four hatched out. There are two roosters and two pullets, fully feathered and ready to go. The broody is starting to leave them to their own devices, and under the current circumstances we cannot keep these chicks.
They will mature partially spangled with penciling on the wing and back feathers, the pullets a golden brown with black patterning, the roosters with a white/cream base color with black patterning. All have the Hamburg comb but one rooster, who has a single comb. The hens should lay at a pretty good rate but will lay small eggs, and the chicks should mature to between bantam and Hamburg size. Judging by their size next to their bantam broody, I'm guessing all but one will be around Hamburg size. They are good free rangers, and have been outside all day with all the other chickens. They are free to a good home. I am located in southern WI just south of Madison. PM me or reply here if you're interested. I would prefer not to ship them, so I'd rather any buyers live close by. I can arrange to meet you halfway. The birds can be re-homed in a flock, in pairs or separately. We also have hatching eggs, if anyone's interested.
Hre's pictures of the mothers, the father, and the chicks (pictures of the chicks were taken today).
