What is happening when we find 2 eggs on the same day, one soft shelled & the other nothing but a floppy membrane & liquid? This has happened twice.
We are getting 1 normal brown egg a day from one of our calico princesses, I've seen her lay so I know which eggs are hers. A lighter colored egg sometimes accompanies her egg, later in the day. I'm assuming it's the other calico because we have a leghorn and their eggs are supposed to be white I hear.
Process of elimination says the soft eggs belong to the Leghorn.
They get layer pellets, free range oyster shells & eggs shells, plus Grubbies which are high in calcium. Fresh water, and free range time everyday in our backyard where they find all sorts of bugs.
Any advice greatly appreciated!
