Started On My Coop

I have 27 chickens. How big should I make their coop? I'm scared of making it too small.

You will need at least 5 square foot per bird. I also know that height is important too if you plan to house many and do not want it too huge. Our house is 6 foot 6 square and roughly 9 foot tall and all 18 birds are pretty comfortable.

My son and I built a coup this weekend that looks a lot like that one. Big enough for 3-4 bantams. He was gifted a beautiful silver polish rooster. Now if we could only find a couple of hens for him.

Updated Pics.. Got the sides front door and rear door added. Front door will have to be opened by a rope through a pc of 1/2 in pvc pipe lol to poor for automatic door. rear door swings open to clean out the inside and bottom. Last Pic Will it be ok to add a perch in the center about 6in off the inside floor?

I to am building a coop in my garage because of the rain, I can't wait for it to warm up.

Have another update almost done. Got the 2 side vent's added , wired up 2 lights and added a roost under the lights kinda hard to tell. Wife say's it has to leave the garage tho saturday (
