Started on new non-gmo food!

The hair was growing in the gingival cavities and could be seen upon necropsy (see photo above). By the third generation of a diet heavy in GM-soy the hair growth was extensive and most hamsters were infertile.

I almost forgot to thank you for the photos and further info indicating that they were eating GMO soy. Great source for nightmares ... hairy mouthed hamsters. Ew. It's almost like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes type movies.

I can't find the citation for the rat study, but it and a couple others are summarized in the following article:

I don't expect Pubmed to host any articles that question that safety and efficacy of GM foods. Monsanto wouldn't allow the government to do such a thing as host an article that sheds a negative light on GM food! That is readily apparent...

Thanks, PMID for the first one is 20506849. Didn't look up the second one yet.

Quote: I do want it banned. To many things happening do to GMO's. Our bee's dieing, genetic defects, cross pollination with non-GMO's. Ban it untill they can proove it does no harm. Right now they can't.

You know, if there were a sci-fi movie or show and they had hammies growing hair in their mouth, you'd say, "That's so dumb/unbelievable/doesn't suspend my disbelief".

That it's real? Is terrifying.

Down GMO and the profit guzzling corporations who would put greed over truth!

The precautionary principle, or as I like to call it "common sense", has been thoroughly shot down by our government time and time again. The argument used against it is that it will 'cost too much' to implement!!! Can you believe that? Cause I can't.

Want to know what costs too much? Our healthcare, because we are being fed poisons in our food and sold poisons in our goods.

Prove it's safe, it will create jobs and increase the productivity of our society through improved health of it's members.

In the mean time, I just want the crap labeled so I can know if I am buying FOOD or FOODSTUFFS, because to me there is a big difference.

Well said,
I myself raise organically grown heirloom veggies. I don't want some GMO's crossing and ruining my seed crop. This should be outlawed. I'm getting very tired of the current officials ruining this country. No more Republicrats or Democans. We need a major change to stop the corruption. OK. let me climb back off my soap box and read some more about chickens.

Avoiding food that has been shown to cause hair overgrowth in the mouth and infertility in just 3 generations of lab hamsters is a FAD?

I call that common-sense.

Lab hamsters? You mean the kind that get to eat nothing but the test sample feed? No outside scratching, no "treats," no kitchen scraps? You can create whatever you want in a lab. In fact, my bet is all the feed I've EVER fed to chickens had some sort of "foodstuff" product in them.
So far, I've never seen one of my chickens with a beard on the INSIDE of its mouth.

When I do, I'll buy in.

If you fed it to your chickens, you've fed it to yourself.

If your in a room filling with water and you are of the attitude that you don't need to get out until it reaches your nostrils, its probably too late.

Well, a quick google search found this on Rumorskiller which seems to call in to question the credibility of this information. Lots of junk science seems to make it into the public domain without any scientific peer review. Of course I don't know how accurate Rumorskiller is either but I certainly haven't seen or heard of anyone walking around with a mouth full of hair.

And you know what - I have never found hair growing in my mouth, or a third eye sprouting from my fore head and so on.
Can we go to far and create something that will kill us? Sure, we do it all the time.... just go to the liquor store, for example.
Is this it. Probably not.
There is so much and agenda-driven information out there, promoting this cause or that concern, that I choose which things I allow to scare me. This isn't it, sorry
If you choose to let it get to you, that's your choice.

For the record, you can also drown in less than a cup of water, should you be foolish enough to inhale it.
