SO last week we had 3 turkey die on my farm. I was unsure of what was causing it, I read that Blackhead disease is very common in turkeys. A friend came over and wormed my turkeys with the liquid Ivermectin (sp?) and the last 3 were fine. Before that day I had never wormed the rurkeys in the 4 years I had owned them. But I have learned and will now worm them every 6 - 8 weeks. So that was last week. Yesterday I had a hen fall off her roost and die overnight & today a hen ran out when we opened coops, stumble and fall over and die. To me she seems to have the same symtoms as the turkeys. The wobbling drunk look. Any thoughts on what could be going on here. I'd like to add that these hens are 4 years old, they are easter Eggers, they live in super clean enviroments & as chickes were vaxinated. Chickens free range, but turkeys are in a pen. Chickens can get close to turkeys, but never seen them touch. My thoughts were to go ahead and worm the chickens now. I am concerned about eggs and when I can eat my eggs again. What is safe for me to worm them with. So I am just hoping worming them will help the problem cause it did with the turkeys. Thanks in advance! I was hoping I could just tonight use the paste invermectin a little in each mouch. I only have about 30 now.
