Will 24% starter feed be good for day old chicks? And how long would you keep them on that before switching to another feed and what would that be?Thanks.

My chick starter is 18%, I just wanted to let you know what I use (and I think most people use).

I'm sure someone will know if you can use the 24% protein starter until you can get something else. Or maybe it is better?

The 24% starter is usually a game starter...and quite frankly when I run out of chick starter all of my babies from now on will be on it. There are a lot of pro's to a higher protein etc...but quite frankly we have quail and it's just easier to buy one food for all of them...course then there's the layer feed, grit, scratch etc

But to answer your question...yes, 24% is fine for chicks
