starter food/gel question

Does anyone know what goes into that starter chick gel-type packet Ideal sends with their chicks if you ask for it?
I was trying to figure it out so as to make more later.

I ordered some from Ideal with my chicks. They never even tasted it. I tried feeding it for two days and ended up throwing it out.

Got both sets of chicks from Ideal but ordered the gel from McMurry as they had free shipping, even for grit and starter packs.

Mine ate it. Although they did spend a lot of time standing in it and cocking their little fuzzy heads from side to side.

I'm thinking it's just gelatin with vitamins and electrolytes...you could make your own pretty cheap if you felt you needed it.

25 chicks arrived yesterday from Ideal and they seem to be doing fine without it: Austrolorps and BSL babies.
