I'm going to be raising 10 colored rangers (jmhatchery).

My 50 lb bag of 21% protein chick starter will probably last until age 5 weeks. I believe that is a bit old for meaties to still be eating chick starter? Then they'll go to 19% broiler/grower crumbles, I think for the duration.

Does that sound OK? Why do meat birds reduce protein earlier than layers?

Thanks in advance for info...

We grow ours at at the same feed all the way through. We use non medicated feeds and we finish our birds out on what they start with.

But if you are going to switch them down that sounds about right.

So, keep meat birds on chick starter for the duration is OK? Recommended?

I have some 2 1/2 week old Cornish crosses and 1 1/2 week old rangers who have just about gone through the 25 lb bag of chick starter I have. I'm wondering what I should buy to feed them from here on out.
