I think this is where this question should go??

I am in Maine and I am looking to start a hatchery. I know it's a lot of work but my kids and I love our chickens very much. So why not do something you love, right? I know that there really isn't any in this area so I want to provide a place where people can purchase quality birds.

I am looking for any and all advice on this subject.

I'm thinking of starting with chickens and expanding to include turkeys, ducks, etc..

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I would say sell show birds with good lines or be a middleman selling show birds (but you need to know people to do that). Show chicks go for like $5-$10 ea. Alot of places do the 20+ chick min and that's good to make money and profit I wouldnt do the 3 chick min cause most profit will go into shiping and not in your bank but I think selling 10-15 chicks min will be good for those people who can't have 20+ chickens..
Alot of people these days are buying good quality.

Thanks for the advice. I agree with selling more than 3 chicks at a time.
