Hi All

My name is Debbie and I am from Kent.

I first started keeping chickens about six years ago but due to personal circumstances had to stop last year.

I have now moved into my new home and have decided life isn't complete without our feathered friends. So the run is up (8ft by 12ft) and hopefully the coop will arrive either tonight or tomorrow.

If all goes according to plan I will collect the ladies on Saturday.

Congrats on your new home and upcoming new flock! What breeds are you getting?
Hi NFC

I am going to get 5 hybids. There isn't a lot choice around at the moment as we are getting to the end of the season for point of lay hens in the UK. Next batch will not be available until February. I am hoping to a range of different egg colours as I think my granddaughter will enjoy that.

Kids & grandkids and chickens are a great match, I bet she'll enjoy them!

I am so excited to be getting them. I have lots of plans about how to develop the run and run area over time.

I have a swing to go up and plans for a gym. I have a small apple tree in the garden, which is planted too close to the garage. Once I cut it down I will put it in the run with some extra branches attached so the girls can jump between them. I also plan on building a frame to plant grass underneath so they can help themselves through the wire without digging up the roots.

I am going to plant climbers and herbs around the run so that when established they can be trained close to the run for the girls to peck at.
