I am completely new to chickens, but am excited to get started. We just moved to Washington state and found a frame for a chicken coop on our property. I am working on getting it cleaned up, covered, and secured before getting chickens in there..but am excited for the challenge and the learning curve. I look forward to learning from and working with everyone to start our chicken journey!

Nice to meet you Beth, Welcome to Backyard chickens. It would be good to check out the coops section for ideas and tips. Also the predator thread to learn how to protect your flock.

thank you to each of you! I'm not set on which breed we are going with yet..It's a small coop, so we want 2 and 2. I'm still in the research phase until the coop is finished. Any recommendations? We are looking for heavy layers, not doing meat birds yet. I will definitely be getting into the learning boards to learn as much as I can. Thanks again everyone!
