Starting my new coop! Input welcome!

Thanks! It kinda just seems like I'm back to where I was, but It was nice building it in our garage where all our tools were. Plus we didn't have power at my new place till 2 days ago so it would have been almost impossible to start till yesterday had we waited to build on site.

Well, it's always faster the second time...and this should even faster than that.
Building for dis- and re-assembly takes some extra skill.

It takes much more screws and much less nails for sure! But then again screws are safer for us so its not so hard to redo stuff

Got the roof on and shingled

And started priming the inside

...and now I'm not quite sure how to proceed. Not sure how to make the chicken doors and things. I'll have to do some research on here.

Looking good, lots of options for pop doors...are you going to have a run?

I am going to have a run. Plan is 16X16' run with the side of the coop that has the two pop doors in the run and the rest sticking out. 1/2" hardware cloth top and sides with a skirt around the perimeter.

Got it sided with some discount siding (hence the rainbow effect)

Been working here and there on the run between cold snaps and snowstorms. Looks like we don't have to move till sometime mid to late February so it hasn't been a huge priority (it's nicer to work inside on the human coop where there's heat )

I did get the hardware cloth buried before the ground completely froze.

I have about half the lid on

And mostly finished the gate today

Coop looking good. It must be nice to not have to buy pressure treated lumber for wood touching the ground. Our termites would have that eaten before summer was over. Keep up the good work.
