Been reading for months and planning, coop building, and this weekend in the 0F temps and snow our feed mill had their delivery come early. Brooder was ‘ready’ and I’m ‘almost’ done with the outside coop. Just have to finish and add the roof and the Omlet door once they decide to actually ship it to me! So excited!
Per the Mill introducing our 4 new family members who have survived with us 2 days now so I’m hopeful! Barred Rock - Maple Rain, Rhode Island Red - Midnight, Rhode Island White - Nugget, and a New Hampshire - Ginger. In St. Louis, MO. Planning a 4 lady flock for our kids to experience what raising farm animals (chicken and eggs) they see in the store is really like. Did 4 large (for our area at least) raised vegetable gardens the last few years so they understood where all that produce in the store comes from. Turning one of the beds into the chicken coop and run.
