Hi all. Thought I'd join this group and learn a few things. We've 2 Isa Browns and have just been gifted three, what they called, Spangled Hamburgs.
These two fight a lot and we are pretty sure we heard the black one try and crow? They're 8 weeks old. Any thoughts?

Hello, they are most likely roosters. I had this issue this past year. For the longest time I thought mine were hens. They took a while to crow because there was an older rooster. In time they did. Good way to tell besides the fighting (not a sure thing), is the combs and waddles are larger compared to known/pretty sure are hens, also that their tail feathers are not fully in.

Hi...not allowed chickens!? I'm in Melbourne Australia, we have limits on numbers we can keep in our backyards but definitely no roosters. We can keep 6 chooks.

Thankfully we can take the little roosters back to the friends in who gifted them.
