Hi everyone!
I have been raising chickens on and off for most of my adult life, but had drifted away over the last several years.
A week or so ago I stumbled across this site while looking for the contact info of some of the hatcheries I used to use.
Didn't exactly find what i was looking for (Red Top Chickens), but there is a vast wealth of information here.
I look forward to learning new things, refreshing my memory on things I haven't done in a while, and can hopefully be of help to someone once in a while.

I recently ordered a "mini-surprise" package, and though I'm pretty confident with chickens, there's a slight possibility that I could receive ducks or geese... maybe even peafowl... which I have no past experience with.

Welcome to Backyard Chickens. What ever arrives in your "mini'surprise" package, BYC will have information for you. The forums section covers them all geese, ducks, peafowl, emus etc.
You are very welcome here and hope you will continue to post.

Welcome to BYC. There is Meyer hatchery located in Ohio and they have a website. I've ordered birds from them before without any issues. I've also ordered chicks from Ideal hatchery out of Texas without any problems. There are many other hatcheries as well.

Welcome. You’re gonna love it here and these people know a lot of their stuff. I just joined a month ago and have been reading and raising 34 birds since the end of March, and they are ducks, geese, chickens, emus, and then a rooster (yes i put that separately , lol) All babies. It’s been an amazing adventure. I said that to say everything I learned was through this site and raising them. These folks at BYC are pretty awesome!
