Starting over or not?

It's a good time to cull them all, so you don't have to feed them over the winter.

Normally, I'd recommend culling half and buying young chicks for a new flock. Then you get to have eggs while the chicks grow up. But the feather picking and the egg eating are behaviors that the old hens will teach to the new ones.

Sorry, I didn't notice. Did you check for lice? That can cause self-inflicted feather picking.

If you can find good chicks now and raise them over the winter, they will be ready to start laying in the spring. It's more work, but you will get more eggs and sooner.
