Outside our cattle dog is a killer. Squirrels, moles, gophers, snakes. Takes them all down. With the chicks, she is attentive but not hostile, she watches them with interest but not malice. Genetics are so strong in specific breeds that some animals are friends not food

I know the first thing my blue heeler puppy herded was my ducks at 6 months now he helps me bring them in for the night and even pins (without hurting) ducks who get out of their inclosure so I can catch them!

Your dog is such a good dog! I exposed our dog, Martin to the chicks right away. I practiced having him sit and set down while near their bin at first and also the leave it command. He was only allowed to give them one sniff or a kiss on the bootie if he was sitting with his mouth shut. The new Little Barn Girls know him and are happy to have him near when they are free ranging. So far so good.

She really is good. She is a literal killer on the property, any vermin is dead with her and with the chicks, pure intrest to just watch. We hold them for her to sniff and she gives a ittle sniff and off on her way. Hold a squirrel near her and there goes your hands. The Genetics just blows my mind
