Starting the Sparks flock

I’m starting a flock @19 years old, I still live at my parents house (yes I know it’s in the works) my mother raised chicks and had chickens of her own 10 years ago.

I had been wanting to raise chicks again for a long time! I figured with all the egg crisis stuff going on, my family goes through so many eggs a day, why not raise our own again! Although the way I actually got my chicks was much more spur of the moment than a planned decision.

My mom and I went to tractor supply, and there they were. We couldn’t resist so we got 5 little chicks, supposedly 2 Easter eggers (unsexed), and three bantams, mixed breeds (also unsexed). I’ve already posted photos in another thread but I will definitely post some again.

I had one sweet chick who had splayed legs and wasn’t doing well the day we got her, she passed away in the night on the second day after seemingly doing better. That broke my heart. Then I had only 4 chicks, definitely not enough for a flock!

So I searched everywhere for chicks, all sold out, until I came upon a small farm in my town in California and they had hundreds of sexed pullet chicks! Also the breeds I wanted! So I was thrilled, made the trip and got 5 more chicks! Which I will show here soon! So that is how my journey has started this far and I’ll continue to update as we go!

Today I fed them spinach! It’s the first time they’d eat anything besides chick feed! They’re double the size of a week or two ago and almost all feathered out! I can’t believe how fast they grow! I swear I can see them get bigger sometimes!
Don't blink, they will be grown soon!

Thanks for checking out my babies! I was going to send you a link to this thread but i see you found it!
So my babies are now several weeks old (not entirely sure on exact date but around 4/5 weeks old) and I’m still not sure on some of their breeds, and or sex. But I know sexing is still questionable at this age normally

This is Dakota and she’s 4 weeks old, unsure of sex tho. She’s an Easter egger.

She’s very calm and sweet, but curious too

This is Ella she is 5/6 weeks old, she is a lavender Orpington:

She is sweet when held, but definitely a bit more proud than the others, example, always standing up tall and looking bold.
Rooster possibly?

This is Amy/snowy she’s 4 weeks old, she is most likely a bantam Cochin View attachment 3446556 View attachment 3446557View attachment 3446558
She/He is very calm when held but whenever I put my arm in the brooder he pecks aggressively and or jumps on my arm and pecks also, not the same way the other chicks do. Also feathering out in a way I saw is common for roosters of the Cochin breed
Rooster?

This is Mary Jane, she is 4 weeks old and is supposedly an Easter egger variety:

She is sweet when held but is definitely playful and likes to do stuff (although for the first couple weeks she didn’t do a lot)
I don’t know her breed honestly, but I’m so curious!

This is Ginny, she is 5 weeks old and is an Americauna View attachment 3446566View attachment 3446567View attachment 3446568
I just wanted to show her cuz she’s pretty and if anyone has any thoughts on her breed/sex
