Starting to build 1st coop - have questions.

Sounds great. Are you no longer using that method? do you have any pics?

I have my new, country-property flock in temporary facilities.

I've got deep bedding in the coop but don't have anything in the pen because it's only 7, 10 and 12 week-old teenagers inside a 100-foot electric poultry netting fence so they're on grass except for a few favorite digging holes, which I've filled with dry grass clippings.

I have every intention of using deep litter again after our house has been placed and we can build the permanent coop because I find it superior for ease of maintenance and odor control.

FL also here! We are in central Florida.
We do the three walled coop and sand.
I also have a partly covered run and made mine with pallets (14). I took off the additional planks and filled the empty sections with the plank and built upwards to create ventilation with hardware cloth. Since, well. Heat. I used 1/2” hardware cloth buried 12 inches down and an apron 18 inches out. I do have raccoons. I scoop their pdz poop board twice a week. I built by the fence so they had protection against wind. So far, it’s been great.

My neighbor uses deep litter with his 80+ poultry but they free range. I think it’s depends.
