Well, we finally let them free range for just a little(30min). They stayed relatively close to the coop and seemed to enjoy it. All but one went back in with ease and treats.

With 1.25 acres it is likely they will pass the boundries of your land.
But, it's unlikely they will wander off if you are providing feed, water, roosting space and human activity within the area.

Just a quick question on your Defender Coop. After a few months with it how are you still liking it? I have been toying with this coop for about a month now trying to decide if I want it or not. Thanks.
