State a fact about yourself!

North american pitcher plants, tropical pitcher plants, sundews, venus flytraps, bladderworts, albany pitcher plants...a lil bit of everything.

I bet your fly population is taken care of.

You know everyone thinks that and asks me the same question lol. unfortunately they attract way more bugs than they eat and they eat thousands during the summer. Cool thing about having them is the praying mantis' that like to hang around them stealing their food lol.

I wonder, do they secrete something that attracts bugs?

They have quite a few ways to attract bugs and, yes, one of them is nectar secretions. Some plants, like sarracenia flava, secrete a sweet, narcotic(to insects) nectar. They also track them by their attractive colors, pretty flowers and some have scents that I'm sure is attractive to insects.

Imagine having 200 3 inch pvc pipes about a foot tall and each full of buzzing bugs in your back yard. Thats what my backyard sounds like in the summer just a cacophony of buzzing insects.
