I'm wondering when this rain is gong to end... the roads and our driveway are so muddy... Dirt roads and dirt driveways stink! Looks like we're gonna have to 4-wheel outta here again...

I'm going to clean out my chicken coop today. I haven't been able to do it all winter because its been so cold. It's REALLY dirty in there. :/ At least my chickens will be happy when it's clean.

I clean mine once a week. I only have five hens, but after seven days, it really starts to reek. It is a smaller coop though. Do you use pine shavings in your coop? I use straw in the winter, but I think I'm going to use shavings in the summer. The straw is nice for warmth, but it's just too hot in the summer.

I use pine shavings all year 'round. In the Spring, Summer, and Fall I clean the coop every two weeks. Then in the winter I let it build up for warmth. I just put a fresh layer of shaving over the old bedding once a week so it doesn't smell.

I have 15 chickens in a 8x7 coop. My chickens all free range, so the smell never really gets very bad. As long as I keep a fresh layer of shavings over the old bedding all winter.
