There must be something about us librarians and purple hair, since I have mine that color too! Too wimpy for anything other than ear piercings. I can tell you that at my library we have TONS of books about raising chickens that have helped me so much. And it's all for free! I'm tellin' ya, us librarians are super happy to help!

ok so came home today and found Leg,(my one legged 10 week old) with her skin and hair all pulled off her head. I was upset(she was healthy other wise) I was going to break her neck but hubby took her to do it. he said he would never do it again cause you break the neck and they still look at you and don't die immediately. he was upset, I was upset ---course of nature with adult chickens to pick on the weak one--cant be mad at them I guess....things were going too well......

then my other 10 weeks olds are jumping up to try and get on me cause I am carrying their food bucket.(and they are still light enough to make the leap to my shoulders) ...........
