I put in some food for my almost-adult chickens just now. When I put the food in all of the girls began eating, while my rooster just stared at me, began walking around the parameter of the coop while bocking, and once he finished walking all the way around he stared at me, gave me a good bock, and began eating with the girls. I can't explain chickens. I just can't.

I had dinner and went out to lock the chickens up, as I was walking there, I thought I heard something. When the door thumped close I heard a skitter and sliding of something running away. Turns out it was a neighbors cat, not a predator.

Phew, you said about the thumping and I gasped! Maybe it was a neighbor's predator cat, that eats people!
