I'm really good at awkwardness.

Same here x3 I make everything awkward in person. My friends just go, "Shut up April, you're making things awkward again." XP

Seramas are fantastic! I thought the same thing in the beginning, but I totally grew to love them! My favorite part is their beautiful tails and how the rooster crows so much! My rooster won a crowing contest at fair, with 16(?) crows in 10 mins! I think it was 16, it might have been 18 though.

I'd just be worried about keeping the chicks outside in a pen, what if they squeeze out?

I keep them in their very own Serama shed (for breeding) and they get let out to run around and play when I clean the coop out or when it's a nice, sunny day. I keep them separated from my big birds, they'd crush them!

So, can they not be let out when they are young? Or if it's cold outside? (Please PM me your answer because I am hitting the hay!)

For the most part, no. It really depends what you cross it with and how strong the genetics are. Usually, they'll have a small crest.
You might wanna look around for breeder, or just look on craigslist :)
