I am considering entering one of my chickens in the New Mexico State Fair. One of the rules is that poultry entries must be banded. Much appreciated if another NM resident could tell me where I can go to to leg band my chicken.

Are your birds tested?
That is a worry. The State Fair just requests that contestants bring healthy birds. Have always thought I would never show a bird for the reason you state- plus the hundreds of people who walk by are stressful. Have a blue sikie that I thought I might enter. Thanks for reminding me this is a bad idea and just to stick to baking entries.

Most states require the birds be tested before a show and usually have testers at the shows when you check in the birds. I'm surprised NM doesn't do it. I use colored plastic spiral leg bands.
