Is this a silly idea? Set up pages here in the forum for one of each state where people can post their locations and find people close to them for advise, help etc? Am sure it wouldn't be hard to do.....

Isn't that what this section does already? If you are having trouble finding your state, go to the "Find Your State" sticky.
