Former Titans' football player Steve McNair was shot and killed yesterday. That's all my local news media is talking about. They all keep going on and on about what a fine upstanding man he was and how devastated his wife and sons are, etc, etc. While it is sad that he was killed, the man was shot and killed at his condo with his 20 year old girlfriend. This married man with four young children had a 20 year old girlfriend, had a condo he leased for such purposes and had bought said girlfriend a huge expensive SUV. Which part of this makes him a fine, upstanding man? Can we not just say that he was a super football player and leave it at that?

I'm sure his wife is horrified and devastated, but I'd bet a part of it's more for the fact that the entire world knows he had a twinkie on the side and was killed while with her in a somewhat compromising situation.

Why are we idolizing this guy?

Okay... I'm done now...

It's a proven fact that all people are saints after death.

I just resent the idea of that as news. There's an obituary section in papers, is there not? Deaths belong there.

I guess the fact that he was murdered makes it news.

I just hate that they are going on and on about how swell he was and are conveniently speeding past the fact that he was cheating on his wife and clearly had done so for a while. Sheesh!

Hope she had a BIG insurance policy on him...

This could be said about so many celebrities -- or I should say, is said about many celebrities. Take Michael Jackson -- I feel sorry for his family, his children, and I think he was a tormented, unhappy person, but not a saint. I heard one news anchor call him the king of kings. NOT! His funeral promises to be quite the spectacle.

Me too, because without his money how is that poor young thing gonna afford gas for her SUV? Maybe she will find many boyfriends and make it one tank at a time.

Ummm... the poor young thing actually was shot also. He was shot four times and she was shot once. They are trying to figure out if she was murdered too or if it was a suicide.

They are still talking on the news about what a great family man he was. Ummm, NO! Clearly he didn't love his family as much as they are saying if he had a twinkie on the side. For heavens sake, he spent at least part of the Fourth of July weekend with his girlfriend and not with his family of four kids.

Again, it's sad that he died, but let's lay off the whole idolization thing.
