Steven was sworn into the Army today. Pic of swearing in

Not sure if Congrats is the correct wording(I mean that in a good way)...But

Congrats..... HOOAH!!!!

Jason did the same thing your son is doing...Split option...
He joined when he was 17 his Junior year in high school...He will make his 20 years in Feb. 2010 (yep less than a year--he'll be 37 in November)...he LOVES being in the military....He is actually signing up for another 20 when his first 20 is over...So when he has his 40 years in then he will still only be 57...Not a bad retirement for that age...He's a lifer....

oh yeah....hopefully we'll get to meet up here soon...Plane leaves in less than 22 hours....and I still need to pack...

I can hardly wait to meet you guys!!! There is a good chance Steven will already by in Las Cruces that day, he's got a track meet up t here.
Thank you all!
I don't think he was terrified, but he was trying to look as big as the guys next to him, there was one that was 6'6" and of course everyone else was 25 and over and he was the only high school student there. He was so excited, so was I, and the Maj. that swore them in was a really great, gave them a good pep talk then a good idea of what it's really like.
Steven had me (AF), his cousin who leaves for Navy basic on the 16th, his grandpa (Navy) his grandma (Army Brat) and his father (Army) actually took the time to show up. He wore my grandfather's Garry Owen insignia that he wore in WW II, Korea, and Vietnam, for good luck.
It was really touching.

congratulations! How fortunate that he already knows what he wants to do. He looks so grown up in that picture. I know its so tough for us moms to start to let go but I think you've done a good job and he'll do great.

Actually I didn't cry, it's in the blood in our family and it's very few who don't do the time lol. Today though, everytime someone hugs or congratulates me I tear up!

Thank you all!

Wifezilla how did your son like Ft. Jackson? Steven won't do AIT until he graduates high school, but he'll get basic out of the way this summer.
