Hi-
I have 8 brand new Silkie Babies, and you should know that I am completely new to chickens!!!! Never had any, never knew anyone with any, NEVER thought I would be writing this!!! I've read the books, and everyone seems to be doing great so far. They are 3 days old, very active, all eating and drinking, pecking, running around, and sleeping well. BUT they all stick out 1 leg straight back and stretch it (like they are ice skating) usually before they lay down. I don't think it's spradle leg because they all have straight strong legs and no problem getting around. What is going on with them???
Thanks

They are just stretching. the probably drop the wing on that side a little when they do it too. Don't worry, sounds like they are jsut getting comfy for their nap.

Thank you everyone for the fast and reassuring replys!!! I feel so much better, and now I can just sit back and watch the babies play!

Stretching is exactly what they are doing. Nothing to worry about...we all do it once in a while. Mine do the stretch with the wing out too. In fact my silkie was mid stretch in a patch of sunshine when she decided to just flop down and catch some rays
