My big fluffy Buff Orpington has an accumulation of dried waste matter that has stuck to her feathers in the vent area. I noticed it had gotten worse rather than better, so I went out with some sharp shop scissors to try and clear it off. I could hardly cut through it as some pine shavings had also stuck to the mess. I did manage cutting some off but not enough! I then filled a squeeze bottle with warm water and soaked the area with it. What a stinky mess. Does anyone have a good method of clearing this out without hurting the poor girl. She's going on 8 months and don't know when her 1st molt will be and will the clear the problem or will it continue to happen because of all that fluff?
