Hi,

This is my first time hatching duck eggs. They are due to hatch tomorrow (day 28). One of the eggs pipped yesterday and they duckling has managed to make a hole in the shell and membrane and I can see his beak sticking out. However, in about 24 hours, he hasn't managed to turn around at all and has stayed in the same position. He is nibbling on the membrane, which looks yellow and tough. There is a little bit of blood on some of the bits of membrane.

Does anyone have any advice? It is a relatively cheap incubator and I'm not convinced the humidity readings were accurate so I'm concerned that it is unable to spin.

If duckling is making chewing motions it is likely still absorbing the yolk sac. I don't know from personal experience but have seen a lot of others post that ducklings can take a long time to hatch.
