Still born baby goat

One of my first time moms had one kid today. However, it was not alive. It is sooo sad. I feel so bad for her. I could not help but cry when I saw the baby. The baby looked healthy and full grown to term. I dont understand what happened. Now I need to milk her, but am unsure of how long she will produce colostrum, and when will it turn to milk?
Any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated.

Colostrum only lasts a few days. You will be able to tell the difference in how it looks. Colostrum is thick and yellowish. As it leaves her system, her milk will turn whiter and thinner. I'd save the colostrum in the freezer in some breastfeeding bags. You never know when it'll come in handy. Like Athena said, milk twice a day and strip her out so she doesn't get mastitis. Clean the teats before and after milking. I'm not sure how experienced you are, so sorry if I'm saying something you know.

I lost a kid last year. It is really sad. Fortunately he was a twin, so it wasn't urgent I milk since the living kid did most of the work. I did have to help on one side for a while though because it was getting overfull.

I have been there. I know exactly how you feel right now. I lost a kid last season, with the nanny..
What doesn't kill us, only makes us stronger..

Any number of things can cause a stillborn kid. I would freeze the colostrum. I used plastic soda bottles to freeze mine. The small ones are best.
