My Ameracauna/EE was the last of my hens to start laying. She started laying at about 36 weeks. She has now been laying for about 2 months. Her egg shells are still soft and alittle rubbery. She is on layer feed and has a dish of oyster shell available at all times. She is the only one that lays the blue egg. I so want to show her eggs to friends.

She does free range every day for a couple hours. She also gets some greens and alittle scratch every day.

What else can I do? When will she outgrow this?

Odd that my EE was my only girl to have those issues at first too. But hers only lasted about two weeks, and it wasn't every time, just a few. For a week, I eliminated ALL scraps and treats (except for yogurt) from their diet. All they got was their layer feed, and free choice oyster shell. OH....I also crushed up some of their egg shells really small and mixed that in with their yogurt. I don't know whether it was coincidence or not, but she was good to go afterward, so give it a shot!
