I have never heard of this and rehoming not that easy. I would like information as I would love keeping roosters.

There are very few vets anywhere who will do this surgery. In many states it is illegal, which will make your search even more difficult. I’ve seen this question several times, and have yet to see anyone who knows of a vet who actually does it. The most specific advice has been to call vets within the radius you’re willing to travel.

It would be cruel to do this! Please rehome for his sake! There’s lots of little farms that would welcome him!
please provide info where roosters can be placed I gave a beautiful roo away and believe it will be eaten. how do you find these farms I have listed on Craigs list. that is how you find people looking for free organic dinner. people drop them at a park but I fear predators will harm and cause suffering. my store sexing has been very bad luck.i have one still too young to tell though i'm told here a cockrill but will keep until crowing endangers flock from neighbors. looking to move so I can have roos without panic.

Please don't do this. It is cruel and inhumane. You are taking away the ability for your rooster to do what he was made to do. You can't alter an animal just for your own wants or needs.
If you can't keep your rooster, give him to someone who can provide a nice home for him.
Decrowing a rooster is very painful, and incredibly risky. Birds can die so quickly under anesthesia. Why put your rooster through that?
Please, reconsider whether you really want to do this. In the end, you have to decide what will be best for your rooster, and not what would be best for you.
