about a month ago i bought a few RIR chickens, among a few other breeds. i also have a big maran rooster. i built a big coop to house them with several bins for laying. the chickens are all adults and seem to comfortable in their new home. i feed them 2 times daily and fresh water about 5 times a day, because its so hot out. i give them laying feed and all types of veggies, along with some scraps out of house, but i still have no eggs. they use the bins, so i know thats not the problem. any thoughts or ideas would be great. oh and im trying the golf ball trick too.

Do you know their actual age? Pures will start laying at about 6 monthes of age. Some take longer, but not my more than a month. I'd say they just aren't their yet, but soon. Don't forget, once they start laying, fall will be on the way. Don't forget to keep a small light bulb going for them at night to keep up egg production over the winter.

i dont know exactly, but they are not older than 6 months. i'll put some pictures on tomorrow, gotta charge the camera, and its dark here already. ill get them on early. ill get some close pics and maybe you guys can tell me more, i thank you for your time though.

They might not be old enough to lay yet. The Pullets I got in June (who were 10 weeks old at the time) haven't started to lay yet. It depends on the breed when they will start.

The RIR Should lay around 16-20 weeks ( about 5 months) and they aren't really adults yet at that age. They have some growing to do yet.
