My chickens are a little more than 6 months old but still no eggs. What's up with that? The days are shorter here in N.H. now so I put a light in the coop thinking that would help....nope.

What breed?? Some are known to mature late. I have an EE that is 7+ months old and has not laid an egg yet. Some have chickens that were 8-9 months old before they laid..... And even within breeds there can be a lot of differenc. In my Wyandottes it was 24 - 31 weeks

Mine aren't laying either.
GLW 5/15 and SLW 7/20 I know they are young for laying still and I have one barred rock also 7/20 but her breed should be laying and is not.
I am just going to be patient and wait it out.

I was misinformed by my feed store that grower and layer crumbles were the same. So I fed Layer which may not have provided enough protein - I am adding cat food to supplement and nolonger offering scratch or treats.

Other than that I just have to wait and see. Many of my pullets are starting to develop very red and pronounced combs and waddles - Not like their rooster - I have one of them too so I know they are pullets for sure.

Can't tell from the backside about dropping vents but waiting
Not about to feel up my girls and try to figure it out- If it happens it will and hopefully I will find the egg!

With you on the waiting game
