the girls are 7 1/2 months (blue laced red wyandotte and white langshan) and 6 1/2 months old (barred rocks) and they are still not laying. They are molting a little so I wonder if the conditions are not right. They may have a slight draft on them at night but no lower that 60 degrees outside.

Any suggestions? Do they need a light to see in the coop? I have two milk crate nest boxes set up.

Do they free range at all? Have you looked around for hidden nests anywhere? I've got 6 nesting boxes in 2 coops for my girls and they all use the same one. If it's occupied, my younger ones sometimes just drop an egg wherever they are. I just found one under the coop a few minutes ago (the coop that sits about 8 inches off the ground). The only reason I saw it was that I was sitting out with them while they were wandering the property and the sun hit it just right. I found one right in the middle of the run this morning. All the rest were resting neatly in the nest.

If there are no hidden eggs anywhere, then maybe they're just not ready yet. Hopefully you'll find out soon!

They free range all day. I've done some sweeps of their areas but haven't found any eggs yet. I will give it a better inspection.

Probably just need more time. Love the mirror pics!

I agree. Although they are old enough, their combs and wattles look like they need to get bigger and more red. I've noticed with mine it happens the week or so before they lay. Are they squatting? Just for comparison here is my BR who stared laying two weeks ago.

Are you sure of the ages? Mine are about 5 months old, same breed, and just started laying. They have much more developed combs than yours do.
