Still no new avatar!

I went to ShrinkPictures and followed all the directions. It made my avatar and I saved it. Then, when I go to upload it, I get this message: "The file you tried to upload is not of an allowed type. Allowed types are gif, jpeg and png." Mine is a .jpg

Now what?!

Try opening it in Paint and "save as" type .gif or .jpeg

Where is "Paint"? [it's safe to assume that I don't know anything about computers, graphics, etc.]

MS Paint.
Click "Start"
then
"All Programs"
then
"Accessories"
then
"Paint"

Open paint and then open file. Find your pic on your computer.
Once it is open, go to File....save as....and name it soemthing and then use file type .gif or .jpeg and save where you can find it to upload it from your computer.

Oh, were you trying to upload from the site where you shrunk the pic?
If so it won't work. You need to upload your avatar from your computer.

No, I saved it to my computer, then tried to upload from there.

I went to MS Paint and opened it, then located my avatar file. When I tried to open it, I got this message: "This is not a valid bitmap file, or its [ ] is not currently supported." At least, I think that's what all it said.

Okay. . . How do I email a photo? I've tried it in the past, but haven't ever been successful (usu. because the other person's email can't decode(?) it)
