Still not laying

I got a few new hens this spring, and they still aren't laying. They are all almost 24 weeks now (hatch date was April 13). There is one light brahma, one australorp, and one salmon faverolle (who is a super nervous chicken and I can see her not laying until later....).

They all look fully matured and ready to go...but no eggs! Is there anything I can do? Or just wait?

They live with 4 other mature hens who lay every day and make sure everyone knows it....so they definitely know where to go and what to do!

Just wait... probably any day now. I believe that hybrid, production chickens start laying sooner than the fancier breeds like the ones you have.

Thanks. I figured it would be soon but was getting worried that there was something missing that they needed. My barred rocks started laying between 19-21 weeks....same with my Ameraucana and even my silkies. So these girls are later than I'm used to!

Mine are 31 weeks old and out of 7 there are only 2 laying and 1 of those 2 just started 2 days ago. So you maybe in for a wait yet. Those 2 are Isa Browns. (I have 3) and that's a red sex-link hybrid. Total there are 3 Isa Browns, 2 Speckled Sussex and 2 EEs. Lots of interest in the nest boxes and bright red combs and wattles but still no others laying yet. I have 3 younger pullets and 1 hen with them. The hen we got in June from a friend. She lays 3-4 eggs a week and she's a 2 year old Buff Orpington. The 3 younger pullets are 22 week old Olive Eggers. Nothing from them yet.

The breeds mentioned are slower maturing and generally take longer to start laying. Nothing is wrong with them - patience.

Hi, I have 2 Wyandotte hens and a roo, they are all about 7 months old now and still no eggs, infact Roo doesn't seem interested in the gals!!, He is definately a Roo, almost twice the size of the hens. They have never even looked at their nesting boxes and are not laying elsewhere. We live in Portugal and I wondered if the hot weather might have an effect on their laying? They free range in my garden 3 or 4 hours every afternoon, otherwise they are in an enclosed sizeable pen. Does this sound normal?

Do you free range?

They free range every few days....not every day.
