I have been treating a large bunch of chicks for the past week. we split them in two groups for easier treatment. I kept 21 here and sent 20 to mom's place. there was some blood but i was unsure what the 'full' cause was so i treated with Sulmet & Durramycin.

They're all acting better but there's a few in my group that are still having trouble holding body temp. they can't be outside for long before i have to put them back in and their legs are icy.

Mom's group looked good with the exception of one(her Sultan). I brought him home and have him singled out in the house because he was so poorly. He's doing better now with some durramycin & fermented feed... he's badly crossbeaked so it's hard to say if he was just having trouble eating or if it was the illness affecting him.

I am most concerned with the one sin my group, not holding body temps. I am wondering if i should go ahead with a second round of durramycin OR should i treat individually with tylan or something else?

ETA: chicks are all about 3 months old and have been eating all flock feed and free range.

I think I would try a different antibiotic. Also, you may want to treat for coccidiosis if they've been in contact with the ground. You may want to keep a heat lamp over them. Sulfadimethoxine works against coccidiosis and respiratory bacteria. Coccidiosis is pretty common in the spring.

Blood seen most likely is coccidiosis. Treat again with anticoccidial. Fast.

They got the Sulmet with this first round of meds. Sulmet & tetracycline.

What other antibiotic would you guys suggest? these two have Always worked for me so i honeslty have never even looked at other ones at the feed store.
