Still sneezing after Tylan.....

The powder.

Ok thanks. I think the tylan 50 injectable given orally (1/2cc for standards,1/4cc for smaller chickens) once a day might have been more effective over a 7 day period, rather than the soluable. The reason is that you dont know if they are drinking enough of the treated water to be effective.

That make sense! I just picked up the mister that is in the link you posted! My local paint store had the exact one! Do you happen to know if I should fog all the chickens or just the one sneezing? Or if it is safe to fog my 7 weeker who is sneezing? I plan on fogging the coop tomorrow, need to find out if i can do that with the little ones inside. they are still in brooders with mamas.

Sorry for all the ????s.....

The oxine should be safe for all size chickens, just dont use the citric acid crystals activator, and follow the directions in the link provided by Miss Lydia.

Well they didnt like that! I held the one who is sneezing most and sprayedright in fromt of her then tried right above her. She breathed it in with no problem! THe rest of them ran from me like i was a fox!

I fogged the 7 weekers, not the 2 weekers. But i did fog the coop while i was in there, its tough to know if I am fogging to much or to little. But i will do it 3 times a day for 10 days and shall see. I wish the weather would get a little warmer then i wouldnt worry about them being wet. (they werent really wet but the fog does land on them.).

I shall get some plain yogurt when i go to get the kids! Thanks so much everyone for your help! I will let you know how it works!

What is ILT? They were on the tyan for 10 days, then i didnt eating the eggs for 3 weeks after they finished the tylan so it was a month ago. You say Rapidly fatal, 2 of these chickens have been sneezing for probably 6 weeks. I was thinking it might be time to call a vet i know who deals with chickens.

ILT is Infectious Laryngeal Tracheitis, basically a virus that destroys the bird's throat, but they don't have it if they've been sick that long and you haven't had any deaths. So that's really good. CRD, maybe?

No, just mist em with it. (the Oxine) They don't have to breathe it. I think the idea is, it disinfects them. Oxine is awesome stuff. I would never be without it while we have animals. When we used it, I don't remember the proportions for misting the birds, but i think it was like 1/4 cup to a gallon of water? In a spray bottle, and we just lightly sprayed each bird. We didn't use the mixing directions they have on the bottle for commercial use.

Ahh thank you so much for posting this! I did go in and mist them before locking the coop. I was holding them before that so they could breathe it in. Poor things are going to run from me tomorrow! Im glad to hear it will be warmer tomorrow!
