Back on March 16th I wrote about my girls (4 Buff Orphingtons) have stopped going into the hen house at night. Around the 1st of March we moved their beautiful playhouse coop. For the first week, no problem. Then all of a sudden, they decided to sleep on their outside roost. Since March 16th, I have been putting them to bed every night and still no independent night-nights. I have checked their coop inside and find no problems I can identify. They are laying so wonderfully, they appear to be happy and content. Tonight I am going to take out their outside roost and see if that will encourage them to go inside on their own...

Please help with any other suggestions.

I think getting rid of outside roost will cure the problem.

Yep, that sounds like a good start. If you don't already I'd put their food in the coop too.

I dont put food in at night due to the risk of mice and rats. You can however throw scratch in and I bet they will run in there.

We keep food and water in the coop. Our hens definitely like to eat and drink before roosting for the night.

Thank you all so much!! I took out the outside roost. I will try throwing some scratch in tonight and see what happens. I
'm not entirely sure how important it is that they sleep inside since they have a very secure coop, but I'd feel better if they went in. They certainly go in to lay their delicious eggs...??

Thanks, again!
