Stimulation activities for broiler chicks

[Northern.Ontario]

I have 108 broilers (3 days old) in an 8 by 12 foot brooder. Harsh, cold climate at night. Goes down to 20 or 30F at night in northern Ontario but swings up to 60 or 70F during the day.

Has anyone ever introduced extra stimulus to their chicks to prevent boredom and thus pecking? I was thinking a few crickets or worms...... thoughts? I saw a mirror and balls on another post.

I think you are quickly going to need more room. Generally at 2 weeks intervals chicks are ready for more room and activities. I personally wouldn't add anything extra when under 8 weeks. They need a good starter, and not much more to prevent deficiencies. Are these rangers or Cornish types?
